Raw Materials
We work with natural aromatic woods, resins and botanicals,
including agarwood, sandalwood and
a variety of traditional Chinese aromatic materials.
The character of each material is shaped by its origin,
growing conditions, age and storage. Even materials from
the same region can vary significantly from one batch to another.
We carefully select our ingredients according to their scent, age,
condition and suitability for each formula,
considering not only their individual qualities
but also how they interact when blended.
Incense Making
Our incense-making process begins with
the careful selection and preparation of raw materials.
Each ingredient is cleaned,
ground and sifted before being measured and blended according to the formula.
Proportions are tested and refined repeatedly,
as even small adjustments can noticeably change the final scent.
Once blended, the powders are combined with water,
kneaded and shaped into incense sticks, then left to dry naturally.
We observe how the fragrance develops during burning and make adjustments
when necessary to account for variations between batches of raw materials.
Making incense requires more than following a formula.
It calls for an understanding of materials,
accumulated experience and a trained sense of smell.
