To mark kar’s fifth anniversary, kar and SSLK came together to create a limited agarwood gift set.
Working through different mediums — furniture and scent — both brands
share an attention to natural materials, time,
and the way objects shape everyday experience.
At the centre of the collaboration is a lacquer incense box designed
for a stick of incense to lie flat and burn through completely,
without interruption or extension, allowing the process to unfold at its own pace.
The set features aged Xingzhou agarwood, with a dense and powerful character.
Earthy depth, subtle spice and a restrained sweetness give the scent a more direct,
untamed quality associated with agarwood from tropical regions.
The lacquer incense box carries kar’s soft,
restrained design language while reflecting SSLK’s focus on natural texture and material presence.
Natural lacquer, persimmon-dyed cloth and a hand-cast iron ash press come together as one system,
bringing scent, material and ritual into the same experience.
